“We had s*x in the car”: Oppenheimer Star Cillian Murphy Found an Innovative Way to Break Ice With Brad Pitt’s $321M Movie Co-Star in Flop Film That Got 17% Rating

For certain actors, getting through intimate scenes can be challenging, and everyone has their own way of dealing with these issues and breaking the ice with their costar. And Oppenheimer Star Cillian Murphy is no new to dealing with these matters, as throughout his career, the actor has found himself crafting several intimate sequences, which aren’t the most comfortable part of their job.

However, during his time in the 2014 film Aloft, the Peaky Blinders Star and his costar found an innovative way to break the ice before they crafted their intimate scenes in the 2014 drama.

It didn’t take long for Cillian Murphy to break the ice with his costar

Aloft, directed by Claudia Llosa, was a massive disaster at the box office and was bashed by critics upon its release, even though the film comprised a promising cast. However, Cillian Murphy didn’t back away from giving his best shot like he usually does, in order to craft the best experience for fans. And reflecting on the production process, the actor gave an insight into his intimate scene with actress Mélanie Laurent, known for starring alongside Brad Pitt in Inglourious BasterdS.

According to the duo, to break the ice between the two before partaking in crafting the intimate scene for the film, they decided to have s-x in the car the first day they met. Laurent stated.

“We had s-x in the car”, explaining “it’s a good way, just be intimate”.

But even Murphy’s brilliance didn’t help in saving the film upon its release, as it failed to leave an impact on both the general audience and the critics.

Cillian Murphy was not comfortable filming the s-x scene with Florence Pugh

But unlike his time with Mélanie Laurent, filming the s-x scene for Oppenheimer wasn’t too comfortable for the actor. Although the Batman Begins Star claimed his s-x scene with Florence Pugh‘s Jean Tatlock was vital to the film’s emotional core, it was one of the most awkward parts of the production process. He explained,

“I think they were vital in this in this movie. I think the relationship that he has with [Pugh’s character] Jean Tatlock is one of the most crucial emotional parts of the film. I think if they’re key to the story then they’re worthwhile.” He continued, “Listen, no one likes doing them, they’re the most awkward possible part of our job. But sometimes you have to get on with it.”

Although reports claimed the original cut for Aloft was reportedly 20 minutes longer than the one we got to witness, it’s hard to say whether it’d have saved the film from its disastrous performance.
