The One with Mrs. Bing

Chandler’s mother, Nora Bing (played by Morgan Fairchild), a flamboyant romance novelist, pays a visit. During a gathering with their friends at a restaurant, Ross, troubled by his feelings for Rachel and her relationship with Paolo, indulges in excessive drinking.

Seeking solace, Ross finds comfort in Nora, who offers him wise counsel, culminating in an unexpected kiss between them. Joey witnesses the intimate moment and insists that Ross must disclose it to Chandler. Meanwhile, Monica and Phoebe encounter an attractive man on the street, prompting Monica to call out to him. However, the man is struck by a car when he turns around.

The girls take turns caring for him in the hospital, only to find themselves vying for his attention upon his awakening, only to be rejected by him. Despite his initial dismay, Chandler ultimately forgives Ross and confronts his mother about her actions and unresolved issues. Elsewhere, Rachel embarks on writing her own romance novel.

When Phoebe and Monica visit the man in the hospital, they try to guess his name. A hospital would have identified him from his ID and put his name on his bracelet, which he is wearing.

However, it is possible that “coma guy” did not his any ID on him and his hospital bracelet would just read “John Doe” or the like.
