Sean plays Agent Timothy McGee in the CBS series
NCIS star Sean Murray recently discussed the potential for a crossover between the flagship CBS drama and the upcoming spin-off series featuring Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo.
The new series, NCIS: Europe, follows the adventures of Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David as they navigate life on the run across the continent. During a recent interview with TVInsider, Sean, known for his role as Timothy McGee, hinted at the possibility of crossover appearances between the two shows. “Yeah, it’s very possible, I’ll say that,” he remarked. “Especially inside of our franchise, as I’m sure you could guess. And yeah, we like to have fun with some of that stuff, and it’s all in the family, so we’ll see what happens.”
Sean and Michael recently reunited on the set of NCIS while filming episode two of season 21, which paid tribute to the late David McCallum, known for his portrayal of Dr. Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard. Michael made a notable appearance towards the end of the episode, alongside Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen), before the trio, including McGee, attended Ducky’s funeral.
Reflecting on the experience of working with Michael again, Sean shared insights into their collaborative process. “That was a lot of fun to do, and we actually did a lot of different versions of that last scene,” he explained. “The main parts we had down, but as far as once Michael and I would start doing our thing towards the end and go into the elevator, every time we did it, we were talking about something different. They would just let us ad-lib—usually with Michael and I, it’s kind of an old fun thing that we do, and they let us do that. Michael is so terrific about that stuff. I know him so well. We’ve got a shorthand, and it’s fun to do.”
Meanwhile, Michael and Cote’s upcoming series promises an enthralling narrative as their characters navigate challenges in Paris and beyond. As executive producers, they expressed their enthusiasm for bringing this long-discussed story to life, offering fans an action-packed journey fueled by love, danger, and laughter. They also extended gratitude to fans worldwide for their unwavering support, acknowledging the enduring impact of the beloved characters Tony and Ziva.
