Murphy has let fans know that the filming of the movie is halfway through now
The Peaky Blinders movie is in production now, and Cillian Murphy has an update for fans.
Some of the stars in the long-awaited movie have already been pictured in their characters, though the storyline is still under wraps. Joining Murphy are returning cast, like Stephen Graham, as well as new players like Barry Keoghan and Rebecca Ferguson.
Creator Steven Knight has gushed about the amazing line up for the upcoming film, which is titled The Immortal Man. Fans have been waiting to see more of the iconic gangster Tommy Shelby.
In a recent interview, Murphy let fans know that filming of the movie is underway. A release date has yet to be announced.
He said: “I think we’re about halfway through now.
“So yeah, we got Barry, we got Tim Roth, and we got Rebecca Ferguson. We got an amazing cast, amazing director Tom Harper.”
He shared that the new movie is really meant for fans of the show. The series ran for six seasons from 2013 to 2022, amassing millions of fans. Its final season aired on Netflix, racking up 904 million minutes of watch time in its first week on the streamer.
Murphy continued: “And I really feel like this is one for the fans. This is really what I’ve tried to achieve with this one.”
Until then, you can catch Murphy in his latest film, Small Things Like These. The movie, based on the acclaimed novel by Claire Keegan, is set to premiere Nov. 8.
It takes place amid the Magdalene Laundries in 1980s Ireland, where he plays Bill Furlong, a coal trader who has uncovered hidden abuses at a local convent.
