Rachel and Monica, frustrated with their current living situation, propose trading their apartment for basketball season tickets. Meanwhile, Emily departs for London once again, and Ross contemplates asking her to move to New York. Chandler and Joey express their disbelief, as Ross has only known Emily for six weeks. Reluctant to lose the apartment, the men agree to a bet with Rachel and Monica. Phoebe invents a confusing game, so they decide to cut a deck of cards, and the men ultimately win. Ross then proposes to Emily, and she accepts. While Joey and Chandler attend the game, the girls move their belongings back into their old apartment. In an attempt to regain their apartment, Chandler negotiates with the girls, who suggest a one-minute kiss in exchange for the apartment. The deal is made, and the matter is settled.

• The song “Morning’s Here”, sung by Joey’s neighbor in the opening and closing scenes, is actually a vocal version of Chuck Mangione’s 1977 instrumental hit “Feels So Good”.
• When Chandler sees Ross looking depressed, he asks him “you alright tiger?” Chandler asked the same thing of Rachel when he found her sitting on the step looking depressed in The One with the Two Parties (1996). Chandler actually says ‘Easy Tiger’ in this episode.

• In comparison to the last time Monica and Rachel bet the apartment with Chandler and Joey, Phoebe is the judge of the contest instead of Ross, who is absent, while the roles were reversed the last time in The One with the Embryos (1998) (S4E12).
• Phoebe asks Emily if she’s pregnant too. Ironically, Helen Baxendale (the actress who played Emily) indeed became pregnant during the filming of season five and was written out of the series much earlier than planned.
• After a span of six episodes, Monica and Rachel finally get their apartment back. This is the last (and only) time we see Monica live somewhere that isn’t her apartment. (This does not include flashbacks nor the house referred to in the series finale.)
