Chandler engages in a brief romantic relationship with Rachel’s supervisor, Joanna, which Rachel insists he terminate. Meanwhile, Monica, in need of financial assistance, consents to cater her mother’s event. During the preparation, Monica accidentally loses a false fingernail in the quiche, only to later discover that her mother had wagered with her father that Monica would fail in her catering endeavor. When Chandler attempts to end things with Joanna, he finds himself partially undressed and handcuffed to a chair in her office. Rachel is forced to release him from the restraints as Joanna is delayed with her own superior and unable to return. However, Rachel must restore Chandler to his original state to avoid arousing Joanna’s suspicion of her presence in the office. Ultimately, Monica redeems herself by impressing her mother with a delightful dish, leading to a moment of reconciliation between them.

• The moment where Chandler hits his head because of pulling the drawer cuffed to his hand into his head in the middle of a sentence was not scripted to happen and completely accidental. He did actually hit his head and you can see Jennifer Aniston covering her mouth because she was trying to hold her laughter right as the scene abruptly ends. The producers liked this incident and decided to keep it in the show.
