Rachel, Ross, Monica, and Richard attend the wedding of Mindy, who was previously engaged to Ross and had chosen Rachel as her maid of honor. Joey faces the challenge of practicing kissing men for a significant role in a Warren Beatty film. Meanwhile, Monica must confront a pivotal decision regarding her relationship with Richard upon learning that he does not wish to have more children.

• In this episode, Mindy is played by Jana Marie Hupp. Previously, Mindy was played by Jennifer Grey in The One with the Evil Orthodontist (1995)
• The reason that Monica and Richard attend Barry and Mindy’s wedding despite not being friends with them can be explained by Richard’s long-time connection to their Long Island community as a prominent eye doctor. Rachel knew Richard from her childhood, and at one point, Rachel says “I just need to be in a room with these people again”, suggesting that many of the wedding guests at Barry and Mindy’s wedding would have been at her wedding as well. If that were the case, then Richard would have been invited since he was part of the circle of friends that included the Greens and the Gellers. It’s entirely possible he was a good friend to Barry and / or Mindy’s parents as well, and if so, he would have been invited… and taken Monica as his Plus One.
• Nancy Cassaro appears as Chandler’s coworker Shelly (who thinks he’s gay) in “The One Where Nana Dies Twice,” but also appears in this episode as a (uncredited) bridesmaid. Rachel passes her as she makes her way up to the microphone.
• The bass player in the wedding band is the same one playing backup for Elaine’s saxophonist boyfriend in The Rye (1996), which aired a few months earlier.
• Jackie Bright and Fritzi Burr played the characters Mr. and Mrs. Weinberg, respectively, in this episode. However, both were credited in previous episodes for distinct characters. Jackie Bright played the janitor in The One with the Birth (1995), while Fritzi Burr impersonated Miss Tedlock in The One with the Stoned Guy (1995) and a woman in The One Where Ross Finds Out (1995).
• The singer at the wedding reception is the same singer from Chandler and Monica’s wedding.
• With this episode, Joey has kissed both Ross and Chandler. Joey previously kissed Chandler on New Year’s Eve in The One with the Monkey (1994).
• This episode and The One with The Proposal are the only two season finales of the whole show to not end on a cliffhanger involving Ross and Rachel.
• At the end of this episode, Chandler’s anticipation while waiting for his Mystery Woman is his same anticipation while waiting to break up with Janice in The One with the East German Laundry Detergent (1994), therefore foreshadowing that the Mystery Woman is Janice.
