Calling all “Yellowstone” fans, it’s that time once again. Or it will be soon.
On May 20, Paramount Network announced that the second half of season 5 of “Yellowstone,” its final season, has officially started production in Montana, according to The Hollywood Reporter and People.
The beloved series, which has been off the air for more than a year, is slated to return in November.
The second half of the season was initially slated for a November 2023 release but because of the writers’ strike, production was delayed even though much of the cast wanted to return.
But when it comes to actor Kevin Costner, there’s still no word on whether he will make an appearance in the final episodes.
Costner recently expressed interest in returning to the show to see his character to the end.
“I’d like to be able to do it but we haven’t been able to … I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it,” he said at the time.
It’s seemingly safe to assume that if Costner isn’t involved at this stage, where scripts have been completed and production has kicked off, his appearance is inching closer to a pipe dream.
New episodes will continue to follow the Dutton family “amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect, as the family’s beloved ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders – an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park,” according to a release.
An official episode count also has yet to be revealed by the network, as well as which cast members have returned to close out the hit Western series.
