- Cillian and Dermot Whelan have been friends for 20 years
In a chat on Dermot Whelan’s new podcast, recorded while he was still on the show, Cillian said it takes a while to get back into character.
He revealed: “You can’t just rock up and get the haircut and you’re in. It takes a few months of trying to figure out how to think like him again.
“But I think I’ve been playing him for so long and the writing is so good, and because the writer Steve (Knight) writes for the actor. I don’t really know how you do it, every job requires concentration…
“So what I tend to do with him is I do an awful lot of preparation every year and then I just kind of abandon preparation and let it go.
