Sabrina Carpenter has recently been on the receiving end of that fierce protectiveness after she expressed her admiration for Cillian Murphy in a somewhat controversial way. She joked about following the actor’s car so she could find out where he lives, and fans are furious about it.

Sabrina Carpenter is only one of many celebrities that have been in awe of the actor’s latest performance, and during an interview while getting ready for the Academy Awards, she went overboard expressing her love for Cillian Murphy and ended up saying some controversial things.
“If I see Cillian Murphy, I’m probably gonna leave the party. Probably gonna leave with him,” the pop star said. She seemed to realize what she said and quickly amended by adding “I’m not going to leave with him.”
However, what she said later was what ended up causing the most controversy. “I’m just going to leave at the same time as him, so I can see where he lives,” she said. “So I can follow his car.”
While it was clearly meant to be a joke, it wasn’t exactly well-received, especially considering how serious the actor is about his privacy. He doesn’t have any social media, doesn’t share many details about his personal life, and is admittedly uncomfortable with getting too much attention, so his fans weren’t happy with the singer’s comments.

One of the few things known about Cillian Murphy’s personal life is that he’s married to his long-time partner, Yvonne McGuiness. He met her when he was 20 years old, right before he got into acting, while he was playing in a band with his friends. Yvonne, who is herself an artist, went with him on tour back then, and has been supporting him ever since.
Cillian Murphy has also been her greatest supporter, and even moved with her to London in 2001 so she could attend the Royal College of Art. The couple have two children together, and seem as in love as ever. In his Oscar acceptance speech, he called her “my partner in life and art”, and has said several times that she was his “safe place.”
This is one of the reasons fans seemed so upset about Sabrina Carpenter’s comments. After the interview came out, fans took to social media to express their anger about Sabrina saying she would “leave the party” with him. They called her disrespectful for saying that about a married man and labeled her a “homewrecker”, even though she didn’t mean it in a suggestive way.
Other fans focused on how she said she would “follow his car”, calling it something a “stalker” would say.
In reality, Sabrina Carpenter is not going to stalk Cillian Murphy, and she wasn’t making advances at him, only gushing about how much she admired him, but her unfortunate wording didn’t sit right with fans.
