Former James Bond actor, 70, who pleaded guilty to walking off trail at national park, says he ‘made an impulsive mistake’
Actor Pierce Brosnan expressed deep regret for straying off-trail in Yellowstone National Park, leading to a fine from a Wyoming court. Brosnan, 70, pleaded guilty to foot travel in a thermal area, resulting in a $500 fine and a $1,000 community service payment to the Yellowstone Forever Geological Fund.
Court documents revealed Brosnan’s offense, noting his Instagram photos standing on a thermal feature at Mammoth Hot Springs, a scenic area in the park’s northern part. The area is marked with signs warning visitors to remain on designated trails due to the fragile ground and extremely hot water.
In a statement, Brosnan emphasized his environmentalist stance and respect for nature but admitted to an impulsive mistake when venturing off-trail for a photograph. He apologized for trespassing in the sensitive area, stressing the importance of preserving national parks for future enjoyment.
Brosnan, renowned for his portrayal of James Bond in four films, including Mamma Mia and The Thomas Crown Affair, has since expressed remorse for his actions, urging others to #StayOnThePath when exploring natural landscapes like Yellowstone.
