Cillian Murphy won’t acknowledge he is a good actor, and Emily Blunt reckons it would be pretty painful for him to do so.
Cillian Murphy, with his performance in Oppenheimer, convinced the whole wide world that he is an impeccable actor. While his fans might say that he has been a wonderful actor since the very start, it was his performance in the biographical flick that the world noticed and appreciated him for his gifts, for the very first time.
Now an Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA-winning actor, Murphy seems to be pretty much unaware of his own talents and gifts or at least fails to acknowledge them. Even his co-star on Oppenheimer, Emily Blunt stated how Murphy won’t acknowledge that he is a good actor.
Emily Blunt on Why Cillian Murphy won’t State that He is a Good Actor
Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy starred in the Oscar-winning flick Oppenheimer and ever since Blunt has been in awe of her co-star. The actress has often hailed him as one of the finest actors she has ever worked with and how he is magical to watch (see People).
And in a new interview with 60 Minutes, the actress again sang his praise and revealed how it is probably hard for him to acknowledge and accept his gifts. When the interviewer asked her if Murphy knew how good of an actor he really is, Blunt stated,
“No. I don’t think so. I don’t know if any of the great actors know that they’re or say that about themselves. I feel he’s always in search… He’s looking at what else can I do… I think it would be so painful for him to acknowledge how good he is. I don’t see that ever happening. I think he loves what he does so much but I just can’t ever picture him going ‘I was good in that’.”
Despite all his success and recognition, Cillian Murphy remains grounded and dedicated to his craft. Always looking to push himself, as Blunt states, it is his remarkable dedication and honest efforts that certainly make him a great actor.
